Same-day rekeying for Parkland homes, townhomes, rentals and small offices, usually finished in under an hour. Owner-operated, licensed & insured, 9 AM–7 PM, 7 days a week.
A standard pin-tumbler lock contains a set of small spring-loaded pins, and the cuts on your key push each one to just the right height. To rekey, we pull the cylinder, replace those pins with a new set to match a new key, and put it back in the door. Your hardware stays exactly where it is; the key is what changes.
The payoff is simple: no old key will ever open that door again. The copies you have now, the one the builder’s crew used, the spare the pool or landscaping company was given — every one of them stops working, and you walk away with new keys.
It is quick, it costs far less than buying and installing new hardware, and for most Parkland homes it is exactly the right job. Very often we can put the front door, garage entry, back door and side gate on one single key at the same visit.
Most of the rekeying calls we get in Parkland come down to one of these six reasons. See whether yours is here.
This is the big one. Previous owners, their renters, agents, contractors and the cleaning service may all still have a key. With brand-new construction, dozens of trades went in and out during the build. After a rekey, the keys from your closing are the only ones that turn your locks.
Standard practice for Parkland landlords and property managers between tenants, and far cheaper than swapping hardware on every door. The Florida landlord rekeying guide on our site walks through the legal side and good habits.
Left at the gym, dropped at a game at Pine Trails Park, lost in a school parking lot or left in a rideshare. When a lost key could be tied to your address, a rekey is cheap insurance compared with the alternative.
A former nanny or house-sitter, a dog walker, a contractor who made a copy, a past roommate, an ex. Rekeying shuts them out without anyone needing to ask for a key back.
Front door, garage entry, back door, pool gate and the side gate, each on its own key. Locks with a compatible keyway can all be rekeyed to one key, so your keyring shrinks to a single key for every door you choose.
A lot of Parkland homes are new or nearly new, and during construction keys and access pass through many hands: framers, electricians, painters, flooring crews and the final walk-through. Rekeying right after closing is the simplest way to start with keys that only you control.
A locksmith who recommends new hardware every time is really selling hardware. In most homes a rekey is the smarter spend — though not always, and we will be straight with you about which one your door needs.
Plenty of Parkland homes end up with a mix: rekey the good locks and replace the one tired deadbolt or the cheap builder handle set. That is very common, and the new lock and the rekeyed ones can all share one key.
Many Parkland homes still have the original builder hardware, all one brand and one finish, which makes rekeying everything to one key quick and simple. We check the brand on the first door and give you the quote.
Heron Bay, Parkland Golf & Country Club, MiraLago and most other communities have rules about exterior changes, but a rekey does not change how anything looks, so approval is almost never needed. We do ask that you put us on the gate list.
Newer Parkland homes often have multipoint hardware on impact front doors and French doors to the patio. Most of these can be rekeyed too, with a bit more time than a standard deadbolt.
Older homes and additions in the established neighborhoods often have a mix of brands. Many Kwikset-family and Schlage-family locks can share one key, and if a door can’t be included, you will know before we start.
What changes the price: the number of cylinders, whether they are all one brand, any multipoint or mortise locks, and the age of the hardware. We quote your exact job before starting, and most Parkland homes are finished in less than an hour.
We rekey all around the area, including Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Margate and Tamarac.
"My experience with Joe with PBC Locksmith was an amazing one. I contacted him/the company to rekey my Accordion Shutters. Joe was professional, easy to work with, punctual and clear about the cost. He made the entire process so simple, easy, quick! Exactly what I needed."
"Imagine closing on a new home, and then going to open it for the first time and the lock is busted! I called Joe at PBC Locksmith, and he said he could be there in a half hour! The deadbolt was completely broken so he took that out and replaced it, and was able to just rekey the bottom lock."
"As the HOA President in my community, we needed our common area door lock issue addressed as soon as possible. Joe from PBC came the next day and immediately addressed the situation. I'm aware many companies take advantage of a HOA, but Joe charged us what he would charge any other customer."

Your lock stays on the door. We take out the cylinder, re-pin it to a new combination and put it back, and the old keys are useless from that moment. You leave with new keys made for the new combination.
Nearly always. The hardware stays and you only pay for the new key combination. Replacing is the better call when a lock is worn out, damaged or poor quality, and we will tell you which applies to your doors.
Yes, and it should be one of the first things you do — especially with new construction, where many trades had access during the build. Most homes take less than an hour, and from then on only the keys you got at closing will work.
In most cases, as long as the locks use a compatible keyway, which is true of most Kwikset-family and Schlage-family hardware. If one door uses a different type of lock, we will tell you whether it can be keyed to match.
A typical Parkland home with four to six cylinders is usually finished in under an hour. Larger homes, mortise or multipoint doors and gates take a bit longer.
Almost never, because the lock looks exactly the same afterward. HOAs focus on how doors and hardware look from the street, not on what key opens them. Just make sure the gatehouse knows we are coming.
Usually. Many Parkland homes have multipoint locks on impact front doors and French doors, and those can often be rekeyed with a little more time. Send a picture of the door and we will confirm before the visit.
For most landlords, yes — it is the normal step between tenants. A worn or damaged lock gets replaced during the same visit. Either way, your next tenant moves in with keys no one else holds.
