Locked Out of Your Own Place in Parkland

It happens to the most organized families: the garage door comes down with the keys inside, the kids lock the front door on the way to the bus, or the smart lock’s batteries quietly run out. This is what a Parkland house lockout call looks like, one step at a time.

1. You get Joe on the phone

The person who picks up is the person who shows up. You will not be routed through a call center or handed to a stranger from a subcontracting app. Parkland borders west Boca, where we are based, so Joe can usually tell you on the first call roughly when he will be there.

2. We ask about the door

Front door, garage entry door, keypad, impact door, French doors or a slider? The door decides the method and the tools we bring. If you can, text a photo of the lock and the front of the door to 561-406-9944 — it often saves real time once we arrive.

3. A quote and an honest ETA

Price and arrival time are settled on the phone, before the van moves. There is no bargain number that magically grows at your front step, and if what we find is not what you described, you will hear from us before any extra work begins.

4. We confirm you live there

Photo ID plus something that links you to the address: a lease, a deed, a utility bill or a record from your HOA. Owners and renters are both fine. Checking this protects you too — it is how we make sure nobody can talk a locksmith into opening your house.

5. Entry without damage, wherever possible

We start with picking and bypass methods, which open the door and leave the lock in perfect working order. Drilling only comes into it when a lock is truly broken inside, and we explain that to you first, before any drill comes out.

6. Fixing what caused the lockout

When the lockout was caused by a broken or worn lock, we can usually swap or repair it right then, so it does not happen again next week. When the door just swung shut, you are simply back inside and the job is done.

Parkland Doors Are Not Like Older Neighborhoods

Most of Parkland was built in the last thirty years, and a lot of it in the last ten. That means bigger entry doors, more impact glass and more electronic locks than almost anywhere else we work, and the door in front of you decides how a lockout is handled.

Large entry doors and double doors

Many Parkland homes have tall single or double front doors with heavy handle sets and a deadbolt, sometimes with a decorative grip that hides how the latch actually works. They open cleanly with the right tools and a little patience.

Garage entry doors

The door from the garage into the house is the one most families leave unlocked — until the day it is locked and the garage door is down too. If your garage has a keypad, try it before calling; if it does not work, tell us and we will plan for both doors.

Impact and French doors

Impact-rated doors with multipoint hardware are standard in newer Parkland construction. They throw bolts into the frame at several points, which is excellent security and a very different job from a simple deadbolt, so let us know what you have when you call.

Keypads and smart locks

Keypads and smart locks are everywhere in Parkland, and a dead battery is the most common “smart lock lockout” we see. Many have a hidden key cylinder or a terminal for an outside battery, so the fix often takes minutes and the lock goes on working afterward.

Gated Communities and the Neighborhoods We Serve

Almost every Parkland neighborhood is behind a gate, and an uninformed gatehouse is the most common reason a lockout runs long. One quick call to the gate to add us as your visitor clears the way.

North and west Parkland

Heron Bay, Parkland Isles, Watercrest, Parkland Bay, MiraLago and the newer communities off Loxahatchee Road and Hillsboro Boulevard. Large single-family homes, mostly gated, with plenty of impact doors and keypads.

Central Parkland

Parkland Golf & Country Club, Cascata and the communities around Holmberg Road, University Drive and Parkside Drive. Gated neighborhoods with guardhouses, plus a mix of newer and older homes.

South and east Parkland

Cypress Head and the neighborhoods toward Coral Springs and the State Road 7 corridor. Established homes, many from the 1990s and 2000s, with original hardware that is often due for attention.

Estate and large-lot homes

Pine Tree Estates and the large-lot properties in northwest Parkland, some with driveway gates, guest houses and barns. Tell us about any outbuildings or gates when you call, and we can take care of them on the same trip.

What to Do While You Wait — and What Not to Do

✓ Worth doing

  • Walk around the house once: back door, lanai, garage side door and ground-floor windows sometimes turn out to be unlocked
  • Call anyone who holds a spare — a neighbor, relative, house-sitter or your property manager
  • Text us a photo of the lock and the front of the door
  • Tell the gatehouse we are coming so we are not held up at the entrance
  • Find some shade or a cool spot — this is Florida, and the van will find you

× Not worth doing

  • Breaking a window. Impact glass costs many times more than a lockout call, and replacing a large impact window in a Parkland home can take weeks
  • The credit-card trick. It does nothing to a deadbolt and it can damage the latch
  • Taking off the hinge pins. On modern exterior doors the pins sit on the inside, and removing them can wreck the door and frame
  • Forcing the door. A bent jamb or cracked frame turns an easy job into a repair job
  • Calling a number with no local address and a price that sounds too good to be true. It is usually a call-center bait-and-switch

One more thing worth saying plainly: if a key is lost rather than sitting on the counter inside, getting in is only half the job. Anyone who picks up that key could use it. A same-visit rekey makes that lost key worthless.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you get me back into my Parkland home without breaking anything?

Nearly every time. We pick or bypass the lock first, and it keeps working normally afterward. Drilling is saved for a lock that is genuinely broken, and we will tell you before it happens.

What proof do I need that I live here?

Photo ID plus something that ties you to the address: a lease, a deed, a utility bill or a record from your HOA. Owners and renters are both fine. If your wallet is inside the house, mention it when you call and we will find another way to verify.

How fast can you get to me in Parkland?

Parkland borders west Boca, where we are based, so it is one of the closest areas we serve, and Joe gives you a specific arrival time when you call. Our hours are 9 AM to 7 PM every day of the week, and we do not run overnight service.

I live in a gated community in Parkland. Does that slow things down?

Only when the guardhouse is not expecting us. Heron Bay, Parkland Golf & Country Club, MiraLago, Cascata and most other Parkland communities check every visitor at the gate, so phone them with our name and arrival time and we will roll straight through.

My HOA controls the gate remote and community key. Can you help?

We open your own front door and fix your own locks. Gate remotes, community access cards, clubhouse keys and other HOA-controlled items come from your association or property manager.

Should I take the door off its hinges or break a window?

No. A broken window costs several times what a lockout call does, and large impact windows can take weeks to replace. Popping hinge pins can wreck a modern exterior door and its frame. A locksmith visit is nearly always the less expensive option.

Can you open a sliding glass door or French doors?

Often, though they take longer than a front door. Sliders and French doors have their own latch designs and sometimes an extra lock, so tell us what kind of door it is and we will give you a straight answer about what to expect.

I am locked out anyway. Should I rekey while you are here?

It is worth considering, especially if you just moved in, a house-sitter or contractor had a key, or the missing key could end up with the wrong person. Since we are already at your door, a rekey takes little extra time, and every old key is dead the same afternoon.
