Locked Out of Your Own Place in Deerfield Beach

A gust of wind slams the door, the keys are still on the kitchen counter, or the keypad finally gives up. It happens to everyone eventually. Here is exactly how a Deerfield Beach house lockout call goes.

1. You get Joe on the phone

Joe picks up the phone and Joe is the one who shows up — no dispatcher, no subcontractor and no handoff. Deerfield Beach is right next door to our Boca Raton base, so he can usually tell you on that first call when to expect him.

2. We ask about the door

Is it a knob, a deadbolt, a keypad, an impact door, French doors or a slider? The door decides the tools and the method. Texting a photo of the lock and door to 561-406-9944 before we arrive often speeds things up.

3. A quote and an honest ETA

We settle the price and the arrival time on the phone, before we drive out. No low number that grows at the door, and if what we find is different from what you described, we stop and ask before going any further.

4. We confirm you live there

A photo ID and something linking you to the address: a lease, a deed, a utility bill or a record from the condo or HOA office. Owners, renters and rental hosts are all fine. It is the same check that stops anyone from getting a locksmith to open your home.

5. Entry without damage, wherever possible

Our first choice is always picking or bypassing the lock, which gets you in and leaves the lock working exactly as before. Drilling is only for a lock that has failed inside, and we tell you before it happens.

6. Fixing what caused the lockout

If a broken lock caused the lockout, we can usually fix or replace it on the same visit so it does not happen again. If the door simply shut behind you, you walk back in and that is the end of it.

Deerfield Beach Homes Come in Every Style

Within a few miles you go from beach condos and 1950s homes near the ocean to big 55+ condo communities and newer gated neighborhoods out west. The kind of door in front of you shapes how the lockout gets handled.

Older homes east of Federal

The neighborhoods near the beach and around downtown have plenty of older homes with original knobs, tired deadbolts and doors that have been painted many times. They need patience and the right tools, and replacement parts are easier to find than most people think.

Condos and 55+ communities

Century Village East, the oceanfront and Intracoastal buildings and many communities along Hillsboro Boulevard have unit doors with a deadbolt and handle set, plus their own key rules. We open your unit; building fobs, garage remotes and common doors come from the association.

Impact and French doors

Newer and remodeled homes in Deer Creek, Independence Bay and across west Deerfield often use multipoint hardware that locks into the frame at several points. It is strong, and it opens differently from a regular deadbolt, so let us know what you have.

Keypads and smart locks

Dead batteries cause most “smart lock lockouts” we see in Deerfield Beach. Many keypads have a hidden key cylinder or a spot to jump the battery from outside, so the fix is often quick and the lock keeps working.

Gated Communities and the Neighborhoods We Serve

Many Deerfield Beach communities have a gate or a front desk, and an unprepared gatehouse is the most common reason a lockout takes longer. A quick call to add us to the visitor list fixes that.

The beach and east Deerfield

The oceanfront condos along A1A, the neighborhoods near the pier, The Cove and the streets east of Federal Highway. Condos, rentals and older single-family homes, many owned by seasonal residents.

Central Deerfield

Downtown along Hillsboro Boulevard and Dixie Highway, Crystal Lake and the neighborhoods around the Tri-Rail station. A mix of single-family homes, townhomes and apartments.

West Deerfield

Century Village East, Deer Creek, Independence Bay and the communities off Powerline Road and Military Trail. Big 55+ condo communities alongside gated single-family neighborhoods.

Seasonal homes and rentals

Deerfield Beach has lots of snowbird condos and short-term rentals, and lockouts are a regular part of arrival week and changeovers. If you manage rentals, ask about our landlord and turnover services.

What to Do While You Wait — and What Not to Do

✓ Worth doing

  • Walk around the house once: back door, lanai, garage side door and ground-floor windows sometimes turn out to be unlocked
  • Call anyone with a spare — a neighbor, a relative, the property manager or the condo office
  • Text us a photo of the lock and the front of the door
  • Tell the gatehouse we are coming so we are not held up at the entrance
  • Find some shade or a cool spot — this is Florida, and the van will find you

× Not worth doing

  • Breaking a window. Impact glass costs far more to replace than a lockout call, and new impact windows can take weeks to arrive
  • The credit-card trick. It does nothing to a deadbolt and it can damage the latch
  • Taking off the hinge pins. On modern exterior doors the pins sit on the inside, and removing them can wreck the door and frame
  • Forcing the door. A bent jamb or cracked frame turns an easy job into a repair job
  • Calling a number with no local address and a price that sounds too good to be true. It is usually a call-center bait-and-switch

One more thing, plainly: if a key is lost instead of sitting on the counter, getting back in only solves half the problem. Whoever finds that key may be able to use it. A rekey on the same visit makes the lost key useless.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you get me back into my Deerfield Beach home without damage?

In almost every case. We pick or bypass the lock first, so it keeps working normally. Drilling is kept for a lock that is truly broken, and we tell you before we do it.

What proof do I need that I live here?

A photo ID plus something linking you to the address: a lease, a deed, a utility bill or a record from the condo or HOA office. Owners, renters and rental hosts are all fine. If your ID is inside too, say so on the phone and we will find another way to confirm.

How fast can you get to me in Deerfield Beach?

Deerfield Beach borders Boca Raton, where we are based, so we reach it quickly, and Joe gives you a real arrival time on the call. Our hours are 9 AM to 7 PM, seven days a week; we do not offer overnight service.

I live in Century Village or another gated community. Will that slow things down?

Only if the gate does not know we are coming. Century Village East, Deer Creek, Independence Bay and the other gated communities check every visitor, so call the gate with our name and arrival time and we will get straight through.

My condo has a building fob and a key for the unit. Can you help?

We open the door to your unit. Building fobs, garage remotes and common-area doors are controlled by the association, so those come from your property manager or the condo office.

Should I take the door off its hinges or break a window?

No. Replacing a broken window costs several times more than a lockout call, and impact glass takes a long time to replace. Taking out hinge pins can damage a modern exterior door and its frame. Calling us is almost always cheaper.

Can you open a sliding glass door or French doors?

Often, though they take longer than a front door. Sliders and French doors have different latches and sometimes a second lock, so describe the door when you call and we will tell you honestly what to expect.

I am locked out anyway. Should I rekey while you are here?

It is worth thinking about, especially if you just moved in, a tenant just left, or the missing key could end up with a stranger. Since we are already there, a rekey adds little time, and every old key stops working that day.
